My thoughts on the stupid Ultra (or ultra stupid) stampede

What’s sadder than the senseless deaths is the realization of the situation of this country. That people are so desperate they have given up even their pride. They were there for the money, they died longing for the money. They were not there for the entertainment which was the whole purpose of the existence of the show. It was pathetic. Aside from all that, the tragedy showed how stupid the filipino people are. A lot of people didn’t even have enough foresight to plan for their trip home. They were expecting to win a game of chance so that they could go home at least. And everyone’s blaming the network. Yeah, the network is not doing a great job in general but in this case, they have no responsibility whatsoever. The press grilled the security chief for alleged lack of preperation for this. But who, in his right mind, would expect human beings to act like a bunch of mindless animals? I praise the ABSCBN AVP for security for still having enough respect for his kababayans. He deployed 200 men to guard the show. Enough to secure 25000 people, if they acted like humans, but very small to handle 20 stampeding elephants. Thousands of humans stampeded, unmindful of unconcious bodies that they were already trampling upon. Still expecting to get in and have fun inside. They didn’t care about the other people. They wanted to win a measly 10$ in exchange for a lousy joke and their dignity. And when their relative dies, they blame the people in power, the guards, the network all the way up to the government. Is this the way humans evolved to be? We were much civilized centuries ago! What’s happening to this country? This is what’s really making me cry. Not the 79 deaths, but the thousands more that are waiting to happen if this country remains to act and think(or not) the same.
